Welcome to The Original Raj Hotel

The Original Raj Hotel offers bed and continental breakfast and is the U.K's first Indian themed Hotel, opened by Lady Shakira Caine in Spring 2000. As the name suggests, the hotel aims to conjure up the images of elegance and opulence of days gone by. The furnishings are of Indian hardwood, handmade in Jaipur from recycled Australian railway sleepers.

All bedrooms are en-suite with both bath and shower. The rooms boast large floor areas and are finished to an exceptionally high standard, with seating areas, canopy beds and red carpeting throughout.

The Hotel is situated in the up-market Murrayfield area of Edinburgh, about 15 minutes walk from Princes Street.

A part of the Raj Empire, owned by celebrity chef and entrepreneur Tommy Miah, The Original Raj Hotel has proven to be so popular that the brand will be expanded in both the UK and in Tommy’s native Bangladesh and India.
